About Us

Deb and Arunima founded A-Star Tuitions after their son started secondary school, and they quickly realised how little clarity existed around GCSE.

Like many parents, they worried whether their child was truly on track. They began teaching their son themselves and discovered a critical issue in schools.

Students weren’t being taught how to link topics to exam questions and that creates a gap that can cumulate year over year.

Their approach focuses on identifying those gaps early, rebuilding the foundations and helping students stay on track.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our tuition? Here are the answers parents ask us most.

Is tutoring really worth the money, and how will I know if it’s working?

Effective tuition should lead to clear progress, not simply more hours of study. At A-Star Tuitions, the focus is on improving understanding, confidence and the ability to apply knowledge independently, so parents can see whether tuition is making a genuine difference.

How do you know where my child’s learning gaps are?

Students can appear to be keeping up while still carrying gaps from previous years. We identify the areas that are holding them back, then strengthen those foundations before moving on to more demanding GCSE topics.

Can online tuition really be as engaging and personal as face-to-face lessons?

Yes, when it is designed properly. Our online lessons are interactive and focused, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, work through problems with their tutor and receive immediate support without the distractions or travel involved in traditional tuition.

Will tuition just repeat what my child is already doing at school?

No. The aim is not to recreate the classroom. Tuition should target the specific areas your child finds difficult, explain them in a different way and help them understand how to apply what they know to exam-style questions.
